Felicitas Yang is a Paris-based photographer and filmmaker who grew up in a Chinese-German household. An early interest in painting eventually led her to cinema, and she went on to study directing at the New York Film Academy, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2016. She subsequently worked in camera departments and occasionally as a cinematographer in Los Angeles and Berlin before returning to Paris in 2020, where she turned her focus toward photography.

Working exclusively with analog photography, Yang is interested in place, memory and perception, often approaching everyday environments through fragments and details rather than broad description. Her multicultural background and experience of living between different cultural contexts inform the slightly removed position from which she observes. She frequently uses telephoto lenses to isolate subjects from their surroundings, allowing context to become partial or ambiguous. Sequencing and editing are central to her process, with individual photographs gaining meaning through their relationship to one another, drawing on her background in cinema without reproducing its narrative conventions.
